Venezuela came first in the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier 12 Super Round (semi-finals).

Venezuela, which finished the group stage with four wins and one loss, secured a Super Round ticket to the top two teams in the group, regardless of the final results of the other teams.

It is the first time that Venezuela has advanced to the semifinals at the Premier 12, the third of which is held this year. The Super Round will take place at Tokyo Dome in Japan from Friday.

On the other hand, the Netherlands had come from behind to lose the previous day's game against Mexico and ended the group stage with two wins and three losses. As Mexico and the U.S., which have two wins and two losses, will have a showdown on the day, the Netherlands will not be able to advance to the top two in the group, and thus the Netherlands will be eliminated.

Venezuela boasted a formidable scoring ability with 14 hits and 11 points while attacking until the sixth inning of the day.

Hernan Perez made four hits in four at-bats (one home run) with three runs and one RBI, and Ari Adrianza made three hits in three at-bats (one home run) with two runs and five RBIs.

Starter Hikardu Pinto also blocked five scoreless innings with ample support from the batters.

The Netherlands allowed eight runs in two ⅔ innings as starting pitcher Shirean Mathis gave up the game easily. The team's batters also had only three hits.
